sodium silicate manufacturing design, from batch plant through furnace design/dissolving/filtration, including energy technology development, furnace technology, heat recovery technology, environmental controls, air permitting, and emergency relief calculations.
Areas of specialization include gas/oil-fired furnace design, heat recovery technology development and utilization, including high temperature recuperators, waste heat boilers, and molten salt systems, air pollution controls, solid fuels combustion, wastewater treatment, molten salt system design, hot oil systems, thermal reduction process development and agglomeration technologies, environmental permitting, building/zoning/fire permitting including code reviews of fire and building codes; environmental regulations compliance; air and water emissions permits, instrumentation specifications/design.
Numerous projects involving flammable/combustible liquids and powders handling/storage, including building explosion relief design, electrical classification and design.
Technology development and evaluation of major new projects, including a salt cake reduction process (to sodium carbonate/sulfur); a new thermal reduction process for producing phosphorous; glass furnace pulverized coal firing; wood waste fueling for a hot air/molten salt system; heat recovery systems utilizing waste heat boilers, air pre-heaters, and molten salt thermal fluids; design of reverberator furnaces; process to convert caustic soda to soda ash; evaluation of fluid bed combustors for various solid fuel systems.
